Culross or Culross Palace with gardens, Dunfermline KY12 8JH, Tel. +44 1383 880359, walking to the market place via Kirk Street, Culross Abbey KY12 8JD lying on the hill northern at city limits, this road further up and then the country road to the left (western), straight at the next crossing (leave the car here latest, there is no way to turn round if you drive further), finally but a foot path, there are signs to the West Kirk KY12 8JL

Cumbernauld Glen, G67 3JG nature reserve, was used for outside shooting, but no exact place could be found out yet

Cumbernauld studios, located on the motorway M80 between Glasgow and Edinburgh, Wardpark Industrial Estate, Wyndpark Rd, G68 0BA

Dunmore Park St Andrew's Dr, Falkirk FK2 8LP southeast from Stirling – private property, but the law allows walking as long as you don’t cross a fence or commit another offense. Either parking somewhere near (where it is not prohibited) and walk past the barrier, straight to a farm, turn left and continue on a grass path for a few hundred metres.

Falkland city, The Covenanter Hotel and shops nearby in season 1, around the Falkland Palace which stood as pharmacy in season 2, outside shootings in the lanes around the place and in Falkland Town Hall as city archive, all standing for Inverness 1966 KY15 7DA

Finnich Glen / Devil’s Pulpit: Killearn, Stirlingshire, G63 9QL - St. Ninian’s spring, this location is dangerous, should be risked only by mentally and physically capable people. Only with good hiking shoes, not after or during rain, not alone, only in groups. Word goes rescue missions have highly increased there. There’s a small parking for about 2 cars on the A809 next to the bridge, otherwise use the left side of the wide crossroads to Killearn, walk along the left side to the gap in the wall or climb over the fence and follow the path (attention: usually is muddy even on sunny days), after about 200 m there is the path to the steps on your left. If you’re lucky, the ropes are intact, further down, the steps are uneven, unstable and some do even miss and it’s very steep. Prepare to get wet and dirty, be very careful. It’s worth climbing, but I was very lucky – two times.

Glencoe - The Study (and Three Sisters) in Glencoe. – famous valley in the mountains – just drive through on the A82, huge, impressive mountains, visitor centre PH49 4HX, costs money and isn’t necessary, just look for one of the parkings, get out and enjoy the view. Big parking at about the middle of the valley

Gosford House, Longniddry EH32 0PX, far southeast from Edinburgh, was used for the outside of Wakefield’s house, but standing also for Helwater Estate, was closed in 2017, should reopen in spring 2018

Hopetoun House (near Edinburgh), drive from Queensferry Farquhar Terrace, EH30 9SL, Tel. +44 131 331 2451, stood for Sandringham’s place in season 1, the lane behind was used for Paris in season 2, inner yard seen from the right

Hunterston House, West Kilbride, Castle Ave, KA23 9QG is Reverend Wakefield's house (southwest of Glasgow), not public. A lot of scenes were shot there. Reverend Wakefield's living room and library, Mrs. Graham's kitchen, Claire and Frank's bedroom at Mrs. Baird's, and the reception and another room where they talk through the night after Claire's return. An old attic room where Claire looks after Fergus and Murtagh spends the afternoon with the maid Suzette. Likewise, where Brianna and Roger search the attic for documents. An old outbuilding as the shed where Frank lets his anger out.

Roslin Glen Country Park, the upper entrance to the park in the hairpin bend, leave your car a little further down the street, through the gate on the gravelled road about 1 km to the ruins, Roslyn Gunpowder Factory, Old Mill lade, Roslin EH25 9PX, shooting was for episode 109

Tibbermore Church western from Perth, outside the village on a small, very old graveyard, possible closed. Call 0131 563 513, key owner lives next door

Torbrex farm – field outside standing for the battle of Prestonpans (furrow)– episode 209. Greengairs, Airdrie ML6 7TU, also for WWII, southeast from Cumbernauld

Troon South Ayrshire, shooting on the beach for goodbye in episode 113

Season 2:

Ardverikie Estate near Loch Laggan, Badenoch. Shooting was on the northern side of the loch. Kinlochlaggan, PH20 1BX +44 1528 544322. Administrational building on the A86, a few hundred metres from Ardverikie Estate, located in a sharp turn to the left.

Brenachoile Point, land tongue on Loch Katrine, shooting with Brianna and Roger FK17 8HZ. In Aberfoyle turn right to Duke’s Pass, parking on Trossach’s Pier, boat tour with the „Lady of the Lake“, hiking takes 1 hour, by bike about 15 minutes

Callendar House FK1 1YR in Falkirk, shooting was in the kitchen
